Training for your School

Arrange a full day INSET, half day INSET or twilight sessions for your school on any aspect of technology in the classroom. See below for popular training topics.

Cluster Training

If you haven't got a free INSET day, you can host a day of training with Guto, release some of your own staff and invite other schools to send staff along. All you need is an available room .

Example Lessons

You could arrange a specialist day of Coding or Collaborating for your pupils, or perhaps some model technology lessons if your staff will benefit more from watching a real lesson.

Arrange a consultancy day with Guto for your leaders to help the school identify where it wants to go technology wise, and what it needs to improve to get there.

A good balance of information about the framework and a good use of technology with time to experiment. Loads of simple, practical ideas presented in a fun and understandable manner. A number of staff have said that this was the best day of training they have received for years! Excellent.

Suitable content, lively presentation and plenty of opportunities to engage in tasks and experiment with various apps. Targeting pupils of all primary ages. I’m much more confident of delivering Coding in the classroom after this training!

Ysgol Rhostryfan

Practical ideas, clear instructions and the opportunity to try everything. Thank you for such interesting training!

Ysgol Trelyn

Welcome to the DCF

With the introduction of the Digital Competence Framework for Wales, schools, teachers and leaders across Wales are familiarise themselves with the changes.

'Welcome to the DCF' guides your whole staff through the DCF in simple, easy to follow terms. The day is full of activity suggestions to help your staff implement the Framework in their classes. This is the most popular training this year.

G Suite for Education

G Suite for Education (Coming to Hwb in early 2018) is Google's fantastic suite of productivity tools that makes collaboration simple, with extended functionality created especially for schools.

Guto is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and has provided high quality training on G Suite in Norway, Germany, Asia, throughout Wales and even at Google's offices in London.

Cross-curricular iPads

Study land use by creating your own city, use a combination of Apps to produce documentaries about plants, write and illustrate a story book for younger children.

'Cross Curricular iPads' focuses on using a small number of Apps often and effectively and introduces cross-curricular projects that make effective use of iPads without overloading you with apps or lose focus on the cross-curricular skills.

Technology Action Plan

Whilst whole school training is vital for the effective use of technology, there is no point unless your school knows where it wants to go technology wise, and knows what it needs to do to get there.

Arrange for some of your school leaders to sit down with Guto for the day to take an honest look at your current position, identify the next steps and create a bespoke technology action plan.

Digital Collaboration

Digital collaboration can truly transform your way of teaching. Whether you use G Suite for Education or Office 365, when you see your pupils collaborating on one document from multiple devices you see the potential of true collaboration.

Most teachers are not yet familiar with collaboration technology. This training will show your staff how to use G Suite or Office 365, and how to present it to their class.

Coding in the Primary

Coding will form part of the new curriculum and can be used to teach Problem Solving & Modelling (DCF for Wales) but most teachers are unsure what is expected of them and how to teach the subject.

'Coding in the Primary' focuses on fun, simple activities that introduce the relevant skills from Nursery to Year 6, giving teachers the confidence to introduce the subject to their pupils.

Excellent ideas on how to integrate the Digital Competence Framework with ease. The training raised the confidence of every member of staff in using technology in their classrooms. The Framework was explained clearly and in easy to understand terms. This training helped us realise that the DCF is not something we should fear.

Ysgol Treganna
